Chloramphenical

Chloramphenical is an antibiotic that is often used to treat eye infections. It can be prescribed as eye drops or as an ointment to put in the eyes. In either form, the medicine should be used in its entirety even if it appears the infection is completely gone.

In uncommon cases, the drops or ointment may cause excessive irritation in your eyes. In that case, you should speak with your doctor to find out if you should discontinue and perhaps use something else instead.
