Acutane

Acutane is a prescription drug to treat acne. It is normally only prescribed if other acne treatments have already failed to help.

When you first start taking acutane, your acne may actually get worse. So if possible, you should start taking the medication at a time when you will not be in social situations to avoid any possible embarrassment. It may take a month or more before you see any improvement in your acne after starting acutane.

There are some possible side effects from acutane as well. Cracked lips, irritated eyes, dry skin, and fatigue are not too uncommon. If any of these become to serious you may need to stop the medication.

There are more serious side effects that are uncommon. If you start to feel unusual in any way while taking acutane, speak to your doctor immediately.
