Nexxium is a heartburn relief medication. It's been on the market for several years now and is best known from its commercials as the purple pill. Like other heartburn medications, it reduces heartburn by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach, which is the cause of heartburn. And also like other heartburn medications, it doesn't usually have any side effects. However, there are possible side effects, so stop taking it if you feel any negative effects, even if it does help your heartburn.
